Yes, 1 unit of 2-sided (back-to-back) handles consists of 2 handles meant to be installed on each side of a single door (front and back). For double doors, 2 units are required.
Please note that part numbers that end in “S” are 1-sided handles meant to be installed on only 1 side of a single door. (Example: KT3001-600-25-07S)
No. The 2-sided (back-to-back) handles cannot be split into 2 1-sided (single) handles and installed separately on 2 doors. Moreover, 2 1-sided handles cannot be combined to form a 2-sided (back-to-back) unit. This is because each configuration (2-sided or 1-sided) requires different components for installation.
The handles are intended for new door applications and not meant to be retrofitted into an already existing door that has holes drilled in it. However, the handles can be used on existing doors only if the center-to-center mounting (drilled hole locations) of the door exactly matches the center-to-center length on the handles as specified in the product table found on each model page.
Yes. The handles are made of Grade 304 Stainless Steel, suitable for outdoor applications that are exposed to various weather conditions. Our customers have installed our handles on front doors, gates, storefronts, etc. with no product issues even after years of use.
Yes. As long as the handles are not directly exposed to saltwater, this shouldn’t be a problem! We have had many applications within 0.5 miles of a beach with no issues.
The handles can be installed on all types of doors, including (but not limited to) glass, wood, metal, and fiberglass doors. For example, they can be used for interior and exterior doors, metal gates, aluminum doors, and sliding barn doors.
However, our 1-sided handles are not meant to be used on cabinet doors, refrigerator doors/panels, and other appliances. The 1-sided handles may not work for this type of application since they are secured by decorative fittings (which are 0.31” or 0.36” thick, depending on the model) that are meant to go on the other side of the door.
Each unit comes with 45mm, 70mm, and 95mm bolts for installation on doors of varying thicknesses. The maximum door thickness that you can install on using the bolts provided depends on the model that you purchase. Compare your door thickness with the measurements below.
Maximum allowable door thickness by model
Carnegie: 2.5”
Carnegie (1-Sided): 3.1”
Carnegie (Engraved): 2.5”
Eisenhower: 2.5”
Hamilton: 2.7”
Madison: 2.7”
Madison (1-Sided): 3.1”
Oppenheimer (Offset): 3.3”
Rockefeller: 3.3”
Rockefeller (1-Sided): 3.0”
Rockefeller (Engraved): 3.3”
Roosevelt (Offset): 3.3”
Vanderbilt: 2.7”
We do not sell longer bolts, so if your door thickness is greater than the measurements above, you will need to purchase longer bolts of the same type at your local hardware store. We recommend bringing the KeyTiger bolts with you for reference when purchasing longer bolts.
For all models except Vanderbilt, the handles have a projection (gap) of ~1.65” from the surface of the door/wall to the bar of the handle. Vanderbilt handles have a projection (gap) of ~2.30” from the surface of the door to the highest point of the curve at the middle of the handle.
Due to the limited space, we do not recommend installing the handles right over an existing deadbolt. The location of the handles must be offset above, below, or to the side of the deadbolt location to ensure that there is no interference when inserting a key into the deadbolt lock.
Our door handles are normally used together with deadbolts (to lock) and door catches (to latch). Types of door catches range from roller catches, ball catches, magnetic catches, and others. For reference, please see the examples below.
Please note that we do not sell deadbolts, doorknobs, or other hardware. However, our finishes are standard finishes, and you can easily match them with other hardware available in the market.
No. Unfortunately, we have stopped producing sample plate rings of our different finishes. However, the images of the finish on our website are quite accurate. If there was a minor difference between them and how the finish looks in person, it would be the images are a little brighter because they were shot in a studio.
